This watch is a CLIX/LW/BZ below is a full description of this particular watch and the issues which it has (or is reported to have because in many cases the watches do not have significant issues, below that is the full information relating to this model from the factory website which gives full details of all of the dimensions, specification and other information relating to the watch. We received a handful of these watches from the sale, and all are brand new as described below.
We buy these watches from various defence auctions and other disposal sales and it’s frequently the case that we find that there is actually nothing wrong with the watch but it has to be assumed it could have an issue as described below.B
Model: CLIX/LW/BZ
Condition:B Brand New in Original Packaging with plastic protector still on crystal and caseback.
Fault:B The watches are brand new, all are running fine. The watches came from a clearance auctionB and had a tag on the boxes sayingB “Check Rotor”B my colleagueB put two of the watches onB a watch winder, and they seem to be fine, but there could be a possibility that theB rotor may need to be reset, this is a simple job for any watchmaker, and the price reduction would more than justifyB carrying out the work needed. Normally, in our experience, the most likely problem with any automatic is that the thread locker used to secure the rotor could fail so it’s just a question of reapplying thread lock, and putting the rotor back on if this happens, of course, even if the rotor comes off, there is nothing to stop an owner winding watch by hand.
These watches are significantly reduced, and it is highly unlikely that we will be able to secure anymore at this price once these are sold.
SKU Code: CLIX/LW/BZ
This Bronze MWC Ltd Edition Classic aviator watch is one of our classic Pilot watch models.B Bronze is made of a combination of copper and tin, bronze also has some natural properties that set it apart from other MWC models made ofB stainless steel or titanium.B The main difference is that bronze doesn’tB corrode in the same way asB other metals, once it’s manufactured it soon begins toB develop a patina to protect it from damage and every watch develops this patinaB in a unique wayB so whilst every watch starts off looking exactly the same after a short timeB no two watches will look identical because the patinaB will be slightly different, it is this particular characteristic which makes bronzeB so desirable, interestingly evenB saltwater and brine canb t penetrate or damage bronze,B despiteB the retro vintage look of bronze watch cases, the material was only used for the first time in watches less than 30 years ago even though bronze is one of the oldest metals known to man and was firstB madeB before 3000B BC!
The Classic Aviator range watches are all based on military designs from the 1940s and 50s. Some of the models have a traditional second hand within a subsidiary dial above 6 o’clock as opposed to a sweep secondhand because this was a common feature in the 1940s, the other models have sweep secondhand’s which started to replace watches with subsidiary dials from round 1943 onward. These varying designs mean you have the option to choose a model that suits your personal style preferences.
The extra-large case size of 46mm (excluding the crown) in diameter makes this a very impressive timepiece that has considerable presence and tends to attract a lot of favorable comments, especially from other watch enthusiasts.
This model has a traditional automatic 24 jewel NH35A mechanical movement which is visible through the clear caseback the movement has a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound.

B * A lot of people ask us what are the benefits of sapphire crystal over a standard mineral crystal? The answer is that synthetic sapphire is by far the best material for watch crystals because it is very strong and also shatter andB scratch-resistant, these characteristics make it very appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and people who lead active outdoor lifestyles, these groups account for over 70% of our customers. To get things into perspective we find that when clients have accidents with watches resulting in a cracked crystal over 90%B usually watchesB with mineral glass crystals, even factoring in that we use hardened mineral crystals they still do not come close to sapphire for durability under adverse conditions. The reason that sapphire crystals are so strong is that after the sapphire glass is manufactured it is also heat-treated to remove its internal stressesb which can cause weaknessb it is then made into the watch crystals and two layers of anti-reflective coating are applied, interestingly sapphire crystal is now used on the latest iPhone. OfB course, sapphire crystal comes at a price hence you find that it’s normally only fitted toB higher-endB watches.
